Collaboration and Funding
The B-series propeller generators are a joint effort from FRIENDSHIP SYSTEMS and ISA Propulsion. ISA is an engineering consultancy specializing in ship hydrodynamics, propulsion and design services.
A part of this work is associated with the research project HYKOPS, which is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology on the orders of the German Bundestag (Gefördert durch die Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Zuwendungsgeber: Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie aufgrund eines Beschlusses des Deutschen Bundestages).
CAESES®
The platform that drives the propeller generator is CAESES®. Based on the input from the user, we are able to create a recommended propeller shape. The preliminary calculation considers ISO standards such as diameter settings for the hub (note that if the blade is getting too large for the standard hub size, we extend it accordingly). Internal optimizations to calculate the blade characteristics and special fine-tuning to the B-series profiles are also involved, to guarantee a final high-quality surface. As a result, the 2D profiles of the generated propeller are very close to the B-Series definitions but can deviate to some extent.
